The new railway line connects Budapest and Belgrade with faster and more efficient transport of goods
The company Transfera, together with the partner company Rail Cargo Group, a member of the ÖBB group (Austrian State Railways), launched a new regular intermodal railway service between Budapest and Belgrade.
The new service, which connects the BILK terminal in Budapest with the terminal in Batajnica, started operating in May with two regular departures per week and represents another important step towards the improvement of sustainable and efficient transport of goods in the region.
By launching a regular train connection between Budapest and Belgrade, Transfera and Rail Cargo Group further confirm their commitment to the principles of the green agenda and sustainable development. Intermodal transport significantly contributes to the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions compared to conventional road transport, which enables companies to actively participate in the creation of more environmentally responsible logistics solutions.

In addition to positive environmental effects, the new service is also a response to current challenges in the international road transport of goods, including a deficit of professional drivers, an increasingly complex regulatory framework and instabilities in the transport market.
“By launching the new service Budapest – Belgrade, we continue to develop sustainable and reliable logistics solutions that meet the needs of the modern market. Our goal is to provide clients with a stable flow of goods, security of capacity and a quality alternative to road transport at a time when the logistics industry is facing numerous challenges. We believe that this service will further contribute to the development of intermodal transport in the region and provide new value to our partners and clients,” said Stefan Radivojević, member of the Board of Directors of Transfera.
Today, Transfera Group operates through five business entities and represents one of the leading logistics groups in the region. In 2025, it achieved revenue of 160 million euros and reached the number of almost 600 employees, continuing the trend of growth and development that marked the previous year.
